According to its website, Alta Irpinia is a celebration of the cuisine of Irpinia, the homeland of owner Angelo Competiello's father, as well as the rich culture and flavors of Italy.
Readers' Choice voters were effusive in their praise for Alta Irpinia's offerings.
"Best Porchetta sandwich or any other sandwich at Alta Irpinia!" said one voter.
While another described the "Porchetta sammie" as "life changing."
"Awesome sandwiches and pizza!" raved a Readers' Choice voter.
"Alta Irpinia are amazing! The food is authentic with best ingredients," declared yet another voter.
Owner Angelo Competiello is thankful for the win.
"We make our sandwiches, and everything in the store, the way we want to eat them," he said, "and we are so happy others are enjoying them, too."
The 2024 Daily Voice Readers' Choice contest to name the Best of the Best in the Hudson Valley began with reader nominations in October and ended with a voting period for finalists in 80+ categories in December.
